4 Steps to Lasting Change

Last week I talked about a quote from James Clear’s book, Atomic Habits. The quote was “every action you take casts a vote for the kind of person you want to be.” Habit change takes intention. It doesn’t happen by chance. Clear’s book goes on to share 4 easy steps to make habit change more lasting. Those steps are to make it:

  1. Obvious

  2. Attractive

  3. Easy

  4. Satisfying

If you are watching this video, I assume you are casting a vote for wanting to be less stressed and more focused and productive at work. Using the 4 steps of Atomic Habits, here is how you can make this practice of taking “express stretch breaks” more of a habit.

Obvious – subscribe to get these videos in your email IN box every Monday. You can do so at expressdeskstretch.com

Attractive – get a co-worker to join you. It will help hold you accountable and it will be fun.

Easy – treat it as an appointment with yourself and actually schedule regular stretch breaks. I recommend once a day, but at least a few times a week would be great.

Satisfying – that is the easy part because there is no doubt you will feel better and perform better as a result of these short breaks.
