Range of Motion Tanks After 20
I recently learned from a Huberman Lab podcast, How and Why to Stretch, that our range of motion begins to decline at a rate of 10% per decade starting at age 20. So, if you are 40, your flexibility may already be decreased by 20%. If you are 60, your flexibility may be decreased by 40%. When your range of motion decreases, it becomes more difficult to do the day-to-day things you need to do or enjoy doing.
The best way to combat that is stretching. This week’s stretch video provides some helpful insights on how long and how often to stretch for maximum benefit and, of course, some stretches. :-)
