4 Digital Resources for Combatting Stress and Burnout

These are the daily and weekly digital resources I use to keep my mental wellness in check.

Calm App

Overall, Calm supports both immediate stress relief and long-term mental well-being, making it a powerful tool for sustainable performance in sales.  I have been a long-time subscriber and a daily user of this resource.  Here are some of my favorite tools:

  • Guided Meditations: Offers short and long meditations tailored to stress, focus, anxiety, and burnout—perfect for resetting between meetings or calls.  Sometimes I just do a 1-minute quick hit and other times I will do a 10-15 minute meditation.

  • Sleep Stories & Music: Helps improve sleep quality with relaxing audio content, which is essential for recovery and peak performance.  The sleep stories range from 20-35 minutes.  I usually conk out about 5 minutes into it.

  • Breathing Exercises: Quick, effective tools to manage high-pressure moments or calm nerves before important sales conversations.  I use the breathing techniques I have learned on a daily basis.  My favorite is box breathing.

  • Mindfulness Programs: Builds emotional awareness and resilience over time, helping sales professionals stay grounded and positive despite rejection or quota pressure.  They are constantly adding content to this aspect of their app.  I love discovering new strategies.

  • Daily Reflections:  I use the gratitude journaling to reflect on what I am thankful for.  This helps me focus on all the wonderful aspects of my life vs. giving into the natural negativity bias we all have.

Insight Timer App

Similarly to Calm, Insight Timer also support immediate stress relief and long-term mental well-being.  I am a fan of the numerous courses and series that they offer for managing my mental wellbeing.  Some of the things I like about Insight Timer are:

  • Offers free access to thousands of guided meditations, breathing exercises, and sleep aids.

  • Useful for quick stress relief between calls or winding down after a busy day.

  • Encourages mindfulness and emotional regulation, which are key to resilience in high-pressure roles.

Mel Robbins Podcast

I first became aware of Mel Robbins and her “Let Them” theory.  Basically, this concept is all about focusing on what you can control and letting go of what you can’t control.  There is a lot of that in sales.  Now, I consume at least one if not two of her podcasts each week.  She usually interviews subject matter experts on various self-improvement topics.  I listen almost every day while I get ready for work and I often share them with friends, family, and colleagues.  What I like most about her podcast is:

  • Delivers motivational content and practical tools to manage anxiety, procrastination, and self-doubt.

  • Empowers listeners with science-backed strategies to build confidence and stay focused.

  • Great for a morning mindset boost before hitting the ground running after those sales goals.  I listen almost every day as I get ready for work.

The Happiness Lab Podcast

Dr. Laurie Santos, the host of this podcast, is a professor of the most popular class ever offered at Yale University, “The Happiness Lab.”  It is easy to understand why her class is so popular when you listen to her podcasts.  These podcasts are also a part of my morning routine.  Here is why:

  • Explores the science of well-being and how to apply it to everyday life.

  • Offers insights on what truly makes us happy (vs. what we think will), helping reframe success and reduce burnout.

  • Provides actionable strategies to increase positivity and satisfaction, even under sales pressure.

Together, these tools support mental clarity, emotional resilience, and a healthier perspective—essential for thriving in sales.

Mental wellness isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a must-have for sustainable success in sales. These tools help me stay grounded, focused, and energized, even in high-pressure seasons. If you’re ready to support your team (or yourself) with practical, performance-driven mental wellness strategies, I’d love to help.
